SUE-C has been creating live cinema since 1998 using a custom video-delay based software environment she coded in Max/Jitter. The basic set-up is a live camera that captures real-time video from illuminated objects that are made or found (photographs, drawings, handmade papers, shiny things, miniatures, models, tiny televisions and micro-projectors) and a laptop for processing. Selected films are featured below:
A new collaborative work from artists Paul DeMarinis, Laetitia Sonami and SUE-C. Loosely based on Italo Calvino's "Cosmicomics”, the film plays on the dispersion and reception of signals, self-preservation and fabricated realities.
A live film inspired by Haruki Murakami's "The Wild Sheep Chase" and "Dance, Dance, Dance", in collaboration with Laetitia Sonami.
A live film shot and scored from two suitcases, a bowl of water and a piece of ice; in collaboration with Laetitia Sonami.
A collection of work, featuring a 27m short film made with live cinema techniques, and a score by AGF. Released as a DVD+CD on Asphodel Records and included several “mini movies”, music videos, artist interview and making of.
